Lifeguards wanted for community pools as staffing shortages force early closures
Ongoing lifeguard shortages are now impacting community pools in Biloxi, forcing them to reduce hours or even close for an entire day at times.
Jamie Lee, the assistant director for the City of Biloxi’s Parks and Recs Department, says he’s never seen staffing issues like this before.
Right now, they’re operating as a skeleton crew in order to keep the pools open and are temporarily closing the Donal Snyder Community Pools every Wednesday.
Starting pay is $12.50 an hour and they encourage anyone who is interested to swing by the Biloxi Natatorium. “The biggest thing is getting in touch with us, saying you’re interested in becoming a lifeguard. Come sit five minutes and talk with us therefore we can go over the things you need to do.”
If you’re interested call 228-435-6205 and they can help you get in the next certification class.
