High School Soccer: Gulf Coast State Title Games Recap
This weekend was also the Super Bowl equivalent for high school soccer in the state of Mississippi. Five Gulf Coast teams were represented in the state championship games, but only one of them came home victorious.
That would be the St. Patrick boys, as the Fighting Irish went back-to-back in the 1A/2A/3A sector with a 4-0 win over Forrest on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the 4A boys game between Bay High and Florence went down to penalty kicks by the virtue of a 1-1 tie, resulting in heartbreak for the Tigers.
As for 6A Ocean Springs, well both the boys and girls teams lost to Northwest Rankin. The ladies first in overtime by the score of 2-1, the guys in a 2-0 shutout.
Last but not least, the 5A West Harrison girls were shut out as well. Another 2-0 loss to the Lady Chargers of Oxford.
Overall, a very strong year for all of these teams out on the pitch, but again St. Patrick was the lone winner from the Gulf Coast.
