Crews Monitoring Forest Fire : Live Report

The area where a three day forest fire burned nearly 500 acres in Harrison County is still being monitored.

Authorities say four homes were endangered during the fire that started Thursday in the woods off Turner Road near 28th Street.
Harrison County fire officials were able to extinguish the fire Saturday night.
Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan says fire fighters had to act quickly when the three day blaze started to endanger the homes.

“A large amount of fire was moving toward the homes so with the corporation of the fire service, and the Long Beach, Gulfport, Lizanna, Cuevas all the different fire departments got together and we were able to get on top of it but it was touch and go for a few minutes ”

And while fire officials were busy fighting that fire. Another forest fire broke out near JP Ladner Road in West Harrison County Saturday.
Fire fighters were able to quickly put an end to the fire before it became a threat to any homes or people.
