Puppies Abandoned at HSSM Find Foster Homes

Seven yellow lab puppies have found foster homes after being left on the front steps of the Humane Society of South Mississippi.

Tuesday morning, staff members found an abandoned box with the puppies and immediately brought them in to be checked out. The addition put the Humane Society at near capacity, but local families have agreed to foster all seven of them until they can find permanent homes. News 25 spoke with Interim Operations Director at the Humane Society, Dawn Boob, about the fostering system they use.

Boob says, “Fostering just means that these animals, for some reason, are not available for adoption. These guys are actually too small to be adopted, so we’ll foster them out and cover all costs for them, and then those foster parents have the option of adopting them first and they would get $20 off any adoption fees.”

The Humane Society still has 59 animals that need loving foster homes. If you’d like to see a few, come out this weekend for their Sweetheart Special, to be held at Petsmart in Gulfport.
