String of Mailbox Thefts in Harrison County

Authorities in Harrison County are asking for the public’s assistance in stopping a string of thefts.
Harrison County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple complaints of stolen mail from residences. The suspects, Timothy Ross and Sabrina Morrison, both from Alabama, are altering checks found in mailboxes, making the checks payable to their aliases Christy Craft and Alan Nixon.
The altered checks have turned up at multiple businesses including CSpire, Sam’s Club, and Chase Bank. Lieutenant Coley Judy said, “There’s somebody in the area trying, stealing mail from mailboxes in the hopes of obtaining checks that were in the mailboxes. They’re actually taking these checks to local banks and writing over them with their names or false names and cashing them at their banks. I mean, they’re just going to random mailboxes across the county and it’s been going on back since November.”
Morrison is currently in custody on separate charges in Chambers County, Alabama. Ross has a warrant issued through Harrison County and it’s believed he may still be in the area.
