MDOT Addressing Funding And Roads

What is the future of funding for the Mississippi Department of Transportation?

MDOT Transportation Commissioner Tom King addressed just that earlier today at a press conference in Hattiesburg.
King said the serious lack of funding for roads in Mississippi is leading to the crumbling of the state’s roads and bridges.
He went on to say if the state doesn’t begin to receive funding for these roads, many will have to be shut down because they are unsafe for travel.
King estimates it would take 400 million dollars over an eight year period to get roads back to where they need to be.
News 25’s Kristen Durand was at the press conference today and she will have a full report at 5:30.
