On Tuesday, the Lady Tomcats won their first ever South State championship with a 3-0 win over Northeast Jones and are now less than 24 hours away from their date with destiny. Goalie Leah Capiola said, “It’s been pretty crazy. It’s been I mean exciting; I mean every emotion probably.”

Center Midfielder Lainey Cunningham said, “Yeah, we’ve all been playing together – like this whole group – since we were really little – like four years old – so it’s like we’ve worked so hard for like this right here and it’s really like exciting.”

Head Girls Soccer Coach Carissa Harrison said, “They definitely deserve to be there from all the hard work that we’ve done this year. We have had no days off. Yesterday in the rain we were still practicing. We always practice no matter what, raining, freezing, whatever it is we’re always practicing so they are excited to go. No matter what we made history, so I’m proud of them no matter what the outcome is.”

The Lady Tomcats were able to fundraise enough money to secure a charter bus and a police escort for tomorrow’s game.
