Jackson County Deputies Need Public’s Help Identifying Man Who Grabbed Store Clerk

Jackson County deputies need the public’s help identifying man who grabbed a store clerk, Sheriff Mike Ezell said Thursday.

The misdemeanor assault took place at 1 a.m. Tuesday after a 6-foot-tall white male with blond hair and a beard purchased a pack of cigars at a Chevron station at 10909 Miss. 57 in Vancleave.

The man, thought to be in the mid-20s, left the store, but then returned and accused the clerk of selling tobacco to minors. The man then left again.

The man returned to the store for a third time, walked behind the cashier counter and grabbed the clerk around the waist. After a brief struggle, the clerk freed herself and the man became angry. He then threw merchandise on the floor and cursed at the store clerk.

The man left in a small, green truck and headed north on Miss. 57.

Anyone with information about this incident or the man’s identity should contact Investigator Tracy Odom at 228-769-3394.
