D’Iberville football sending five to the next level
Over at D’Iberville High School, five Warriors putting pen to paper on National Signing Day.
Those being Robert Cook, Colton Deshazo and Tony Taylor, all with Holmes Community College, Caleb Williams with Pearl River, and Kam Williams with Northwest Mississippi.
Together, the Fab Five was part of a lot of wins over the last three years to the tune of an overall record of 29-6 and the 2020 region 4 class 6A title under Head Coach Larry Dolan.
Now, they’re all taking their winning ways onto the next level. Kam Williams said, “Everybody’s a family there. It’s nice up there. And the coach, he checked up on me the day after I have surgery. He’s just – we made a tight bond like that, and I couldn’t see myself going anywhere else.”
Caleb Williams said, “Like you said, most kids don’t have this opportunity to play at the next level, coming from a school like this in Mississippi, being in 6A, I’m just blessed and ready to get up there and get the opportunity.”
Tony Taylor said “I’m trying to make another D’Iberville basically, trying to get up there and go hard. Go hard or go home.”
Robert Cook said, “Oh yeah, I mean it’s always been a grind. It ain’t nothing we’re not used to. I mean go in there and get a job done.”
Colton Deshazo said, “Holmes hasn’t won a game in two years. They’ve been 0-18 the last two years. So, they hired a new coaching staff, got rid of everybody, so I’m going in with a fresh – clean plate – trying to build this program back up. And D’Iberville has been the same way. We got a new coach my freshman year, and Coach Dolan helped flip that program around, so I’m used to being a part of a program that’s on the uprising. So, I plan to do the same thing at Holmes, go win, show what I can do and hopefully win some ball games and win a national championship.”
Holmes actually 0-14 the last two years. Also senior running back Drey Lenoir will also be signing with PRCC during this spring semester.
