Reading Gate Educational Meeting February 23rd in Gulfport

In an effort to assist school districts with the implementation of the third grade reading gate, the Mississippi Department of Education will conduct regional meetings for parents of kindergarten through third grade students over the next month.
Parents will receive an overview of the legislation and assessment, as well as strategies that can be used at home to help improve reading outcomes for children.
Under the Literacy Based Promotion Act, students who cannot read on grade level by the end of third grade will be held back.
The meeting in South Mississippi will be on February 23rd at the Harrison County School District Office on Highway 49 in Gulfport.
