Blood Drive in Honor of Local Priest
Volunteers in Pascagoula are donating blood in honor of a local priest who is now in remission after battling cancer.
Father Mike Kelleher of Sacred Heart was diagnosed with lung cancer last year by the oncology team at Singing River Health System.
The Jeune Esprit Service and Social Club hosts a blood drive every year and decided to dedicate this one to Father Mike.
Members of the club tell News 25 he is a vital part of the Pascagoula community. Jeune Esprit Service and Social Club Sponsor Laura Keenan said, “He is the priest at Sacred Heart Catholic Church which is also the home of Resurrection Catholic Elementary School. He is just a figure and he is very active in the children’s lives and all of their lives throughout the community.”
The blood drive took place at Resurrection Catholic School in Pascagoula.
