UMMC awarded nearly $3M to promote mental health in health care workers
Mississippi is getting nearly $3 million through the American Rescue Plan to help reduce burnout and promote mental health and wellness among healthcare workers.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is administering the money through the University of Mississippi Medical Center in an effort to retain our state’s healthcare workforce.
The money will fund programs and training for healthcare providers over the next three years, especially those in underserved and rural communities.
According to HHS, COVID-19 has compounded rates of depression and anxiety among healthcare workers.
But the agency hopes this money will support proven strategies to for healthcare providers to reduce burnout and build resiliency.
