Arrests made in fatal New Year’s Eve shooting in Gulfport

On January 7, 2022, the Gulfport Police Department made the following arrests:

  • 23-year-old Mario Clark; charged with one count (01) of Second Degree Murder and two counts (02) of Shooting into a Dwelling
  • 18-year-old Vincent Jaquan Armstrong; charged with one count (01) of Second Degree Murder and two counts (02) of Shooting into a Dwelling
  • 26-year-old Khalid Williams; charged with one count (01) of Second Degree Murder, two counts (02) of Shooting into a Dwelling, and one count (01) of Possession of a Weapon After a Felony Conviction

A fourth person is in custody on unrelated charges in Kentucky and once extradited back to Gulfport, he will be charged.

On December 31, 2021, at approximately 11:58 p.m., the Gulfport Police Department responded to 1200 block of Lewis Avenue in reference to a shooting.

The investigation revealed that a large crowd had gathered in the 1200 block of Lewis Avenue for a New Years Eve Party. A physical confrontation escalated into shots being fired by multiple individuals. Responding Officers located six adult males and one adult female who were suffering from gunshot wounds. Aubrey Lewis, Corey Dubose, Cedrick McCord, and Nathaniel Harris all succumbed to their injuries. Two males and one female sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Clark was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility where he is being held with no bond for the Second Degree Murder and $500,000 for the Shooting into a Dwelling.

Armstrong was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility where he is being held with no bond for the Second Degree Murder and $500,000 for the Shooting into a Dwelling.

Upon completion of the booking process, Williams was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility where he is being held with no bond for the Second Degree Murder and $550,000 for the Shooting into a Dwelling, and Possession of a Weapon After a Felony Conviction.
