Lynn Meadows Discovery Center rings in the New Year with the Countdown to Noon

The Lynn Meadows Discovery Center held its annual Countdown to Noon party today.

For parents who were looking for a new year’s celebration with their kids without the hassle of staying up until midnight, the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center had them covered.

The annual Countdown to Noon New Year’s Party is a daytime New Year’s Eve celebration that gives children an opportunity to share in the 2022 excitement. Lynn Meadows Executive Director Cindy DeFrances said, “This is one of our favorite days of the year. It is so much fun, and we have so many families that come out to celebrate New Year’s a little bit early.”

The event began at 10 this morning where children and their parents were able to play games and do New Year’s themed arts and crafts.

Once the clock struck 11:30, guests made their way from the museum to the auditorium where they were given party gear to get them even more in the celebratory mood. Visitor Domenic Giardina said, “They had the noise makers. They made the glasses. They had the karaoke. Our daughters loved that. It was a lot of fun.”

About 750 people filled the dance floor with high spirits as they eagerly waited for the clock to strike 12. “It is so much fun and we have so many families that come out to celebrate a little bit early so that they can have children time and then adult time later on hopefully.”

Once noon finally hit, balloons and confetti filled the air to signify a new year. Families then returned to the museum where they were able to finish a day full of hope for the new year. “The kids get exhausted at home waiting for midnight, so this is a blast for them. They got all the excitement of having the ball drop at noon, and we get to celebrate with them which is a lot of fun.”
