Mississippi Gulf Coast YMCA throws Children’s Christmas Party

The Mississippi Gulf Coast YMCA got in on all the holiday fun this evening, inviting members and their children to participate in some festive activities.

At the Blossman Family Branch, kids were invited to make an assortment of Christmas crafts, eat holiday treats, and meet the big man himself and discuss what’s on their Christmas lists.

Earlier in the day, the Y also had a sensory-friendly Santa activity to help children with special needs not be overwhelmed by all the holiday fun.

After the pandemic limited many Christmas celebrations last year, this provided an occasion for members to mingle once again. Mississippi Gulf Coast YMCA CEO Jara Miller said, “It’s a great opportunity for families to come into the Y. The Y is about relationships and so bringing in families so they can meet each other, meet other children the same ages as their children, to meet Santa Claus– it’s right before Christmas. What more could you ask for?”

The Y is also helping give back by waiving the joining fee for all new members this week if they bring in a non-perishable good.
