Pascagoula VFW Post 3373 Hosts Annual Mardi Gras Ball

Friday night, the Pascagoula VFW hosted its annual Mardi Gras ball.

For the veterans who frequent VFW Post 3373, the ball is about more than just having a good time. The veterans crowned a king and queen and enjoyed good food, but they also took the time to remember the veterans from Jackson County who died this past year. This year’s theme is a tribute to the Civil War, so the soldiers who gave their lives in that war were also remembered.

LCPL. Corey Lee Kersh of the Marine Corps says, “Growing up, you had your football leagues, your baseball leagues, and things of that nature, but once you get a complete band of brothers with all different branches, it’s just a camaraderie that some people would never understand. I mean, here we have Vietnam vets. Jeff that just spoke, I believe he’s Desert Storm also. Our Commander, Mr. Cecil, he’s WWII.”

VFW Post 3373’s 48th king is David Petty and the queen is Bonnie Brown. They will serve as king and queen until next year’s ball.
