Community Ministries hosts Thanksgiving food giveaway

Gulf Coast Community Ministries held a Thanksgiving food giveaway today.

This is day two out of three, the ministries will be giving out food. The first day was this Tuesday and the last will be this upcoming Tuesday.

Overall, the ministries have enough Thanksgiving food to feed about 200 families.

The organization purchased some food themselves as well as collected donations from churches and residents along the Coast.

Some of these churches include First United Methodist of Gulfport, St. Peters by the Sea Episcopal Church, First Christian Church, and others. Gulf Coast Community Ministries Executive Director Michael Wilson said, “Oh, it’s incredible. What we do, we’re a faith-based organization, we try to pour into the community to reciprocate the love that Christ shows to us. We just try to show that to our community and that’s what today is all about. It’s just loving on people.”

The organization will soon be hosting a giveaway called ‘Camping for Hope’ on December 4th to provide about 150 homeless citizens with items needed to get through the winter times.
