Ocean Springs woman heads gift card donation program for firefighters

An Ocean Springs resident is heading a program to donate gift cards to our local firefighters for Christmas.

Linda Bock began her gift card program last year as a way to boost the moral of local public servants.

Last year, Bock ran the program ‘Adopt a Cop’ and donated about 100 different gift cards to police officers along the Coast.

This year, Bock will run ‘Adopt a Firefighter’ and spread the joy to firemen and women.

As of now, she has about 50 gift cards and is looking to hit the 100 card mark to help spread her donations to both Jackson and Harrison counties.

If you would like to donate, join the group ‘Adopt a Firefighter’ on Facebook for information. $20 gift cards and cash are accepted. “It feels amazing and honestly it’s a little bit selfish because I get just as much out of it as they do. Just the feeling of giving and seeing their smiles and just giving them that warmth, that love, to them, is just selfish because I like it too.”

Bock will run the program this year in honor of Pascagoula Fire Captain Jacob Latch who died in October from a rare form of cancer known as EHE.
