New café in Biloxi offering plant-based meals

A new plant-based café has opened its doors in Downtown Biloxi.

Makin’ Groceries is located at 871 B Howard Avenue and specializes in offering vegan and vegetarian friendly food options.

The owner, Lauren Turner, wanted to bring more healthy eating options to the city. She specializes in cooking a variety of different dishes and buys from local farmers. So, while you’ll find some staples on the menu, you’ll also be able to try unique daily specials. “It’s not the same kind of thing over and over again. You might come in one day and have something Korean on the menu and the next day Moroccan. I really like to play on those familiar flavors, but made them plant-centric.”

Inside the café there’s artwork on display to support the local art community. They also offer grab and go options, catering, and cooking lessons.

Hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
