Shuckers Celebrate Construction Milestone at MGM Park

Wednesday, the Biloxi Shuckers celebrated another milestone in the construction of MGM Park.

While one year ago, they were just breaking ground on the park, Wednesday, they laid down the last piece of framework on the stadium. Team officials, city leaders, and other special guests were in attendance and all signed the last piece before it was officially placed. Good weather has helped speed up the construction process and the stadium is set to be completed by the end of July.

Tim Bennett, Shuckers team owner, says, “Very excited. It’s been a long road trying to get to this point, but now that we’re here, it’s very exciting to see everybody that’s here today and especially people from different cities all along the Gulf Coast. That’s the reason we’re here, is to bring a team to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, not just to one location, but something that’s for everybody.”

Biloxi Mayor, A.J. Holloway, had the first official hit inside the park.
