Defense Bill Heads to President’s Desk
A defense bill sits on the president’s desk for signature.
The bill would give troops a pay raise and it takes closing bases off the table, rejecting the Pentagon’s plan to perform a new round of military base closings. This does prevent President Obama from closing Guantanamo Bay in Cuba and moving those detainees to secure facilities across the United States.
Here on the Gulf Coast, the funds would offer a full construction of a DDG51 destroyer plus advance funding for new amphibious ships.
