Man pleads guilty to shooting at Biloxi officer
A Florida man has plead guilty to shooting at a Biloxi police officer last year.
Twenty-five-year-old Willie Byrd pled guilty to one count of receiving stolen property and one count of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
On July 31st, 2021, a Biloxi police officer attempted to make a traffic on a stolen SUV traveling eastbound on I-10 near the Woolmarket exit.
A pursuit ensued and Byrd emerged from the passenger side window and fired two shots, striking the officer’s vehicle.
Byrd was sentenced as a habitual offender to 13 years without the possible of early release.
