View the Cruise draws crowds to Downtown Gulfport

Rain and an overcast sky didn’t dampen the spirits of car enthusiasts determined to make the most of Gulfport’s View the Cruise Sunday in downtown.

Drivers gathered for the event that once started as a block party, but now covers the entire downtown area.

Live music and classic cars attracted thousands of spectators, even Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes broke out his drum kit to play some rock and roll hits with his band.

Food vendors lined the road as the event drew a larger crowd than last year which had been impacted by COVID. Gulfport Main Street Director Laurie Toups said, “People come down here for the first time to the Gulf Coast and to Gulfport and they are walking around going, ‘I had no idea that it was so awesome and friendly and the food was so good.’ So that increases our economic impact for the businesses and restaurants. This is like Christmas for everyone.”
