MGCCC Day Of Giving Perkinston

One local college is getting in on the Giving Tuesday trend. Today, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is putting on their first ever Day of Giving.
Just like everywhere else across the country, instead of using your money to buy material things, the school hopes people will give back. Gulf coast hopes alumni or any Coast residents will invest in the future of their students. University officials tell News 25 about 75 percent of their students receive some type of scholarship. While money donated will help with student scholarships, it’s also used to help students with everyday problems.Chief of Staff for President Tracy Walters said, “We have students come and say ‘listen, i have got all my financial aid covered. I’ve got scholarship money, but I need gas money to get to school.’ So that’s what this is for. We have students come when they need that just little bit extra. Just to help them be successful and to complete their goals at the college.”
