Prep For Winds and Rain

With the expected severe weather on the way, emergency management wants you to be prepared.
Winds are predicted to hit 20 to be 25 miles per hour and pick up throughout the storm. If you have any holiday decorations or furniture outside, secure them or bring the items inside.
We also are seeing significant rainfall which South Mississippi has not experienced in months so drive carefully. Use your windshield wipers, headlights, and slow down if necessary. It may be a good idea to secure your boat and stay off the water.
Harrison County EMA Director Rupert Lacy said, “These winds are going to make it if it’s in a safe harbor, the tides are going to be just a little higher, but you’ll also have issues with boats because of the wave action and all that. Not a good day to go boating or not a good night to go boating and we want people to be careful.”
