Mississippi State thinking too much against LSU
Mississippi State will always go down as the team that handed LSU it’s first loss following its undefeated run to the 2019 National Championship.
However, LSU will also go down as the team that got revenge in 2021.
The Tigers were able to hold off the Bulldogs for the 28-25 victory, despite almost every statistical advantage going in favor of MSU.
The Bulldogs won time of possession by more than ten minutes while outgaining the Tigers by more than 140 yards with 14 more first downs.
Yet, they found themselves trailing by three possessions early in the fourth quarter with only themselves to blame. Head Coach Mike Leach said, “We have a tendency to overthink plays and I think we get to that point and then they don’t overthink plays. And I can’t say we become more confident, but take comfort in knowing that it can’t get any worse I guess is how I’d categorize it and then we let ourselves play. But right now, too many plays, most of the plays that you ask about, we just have to relax. Let’s not overthink plays and just go play and make it like it is on Tuesday and Wednesday.”
Next up for the Bulldogs is a road date at Texas A&M set to kick off at 6 p.m. Saturday on the SEC Network.
MSU has now lost two games in a row.
