Small Business Saturday

Millions of Americans started off their Christmas shopping today thanks to Black Friday. The deals will continue online for Cyber Monday, but don’t forget Saturday.
Small Business Saturday gives people a reminder to support the locally owned and operated shops while they’re out spending their hard-earned money.
Today, News 25 visited local stores to discuss why shopping local and supporting small businesses is necessary.
Meriliegh Miner Furr with Miner Toys said, “It’s really important because we prepare to help you with your holidays. We watch all the families and members of the community grow through the years and we want to be there to help you. You’re here to help us and it’s just a really special time of the year and time to share good things together.”
Allison Marsh with Chandeleur Outfitters said, “Our community has gone great because it’s all small businesses downtown and we help one another out. If we don’t have something, I’ll send someone down to Paddles Up, for example, because I know that they have it.”
Plenty of areas on the Coast will be doing business on Small Business Saturday, including many of the locally owned shops in Bay St. Louis and downtown Ocean Springs.
