Outreach Ministry holds a session about fighting addiction
Tonight, the Wolf Creek Community Church in the Kiln hosted “No Judgement Day.” The event served as a session dedicated to fighting and overcoming addiction through the power of Christ.
“The loss of the loved ones and the damage that you do to the community and those around you makes you feel horrible.” Chancey Biobo is one of many recovering addicts that filled the room at tonight’s “No Judgment Day” event.
Each of them have their own story, but what they have in common is that they accept their addiction and are looking at God for strength. Pastor James Pacheco said, “Well the bottom line is to bring Jesus into their lives. We want them to be victorious in this life and in the life to come.”
Pastor Pachecho tells News 25 he’s worked alongside his wife, Petrina, and Judge Desmond Hoda to make “No Judgment Day” a reality. “It’s been put on my wife’s heart and my heart and Judge Hoda as well to do something about it and introduce these people to resources and places that can give them the help that they need.”
Tonight’s guest speaker was Rodney Williams, a former meth addict, now turned author and pastor, who says he was freed of his addiction through the power of God. Teen Challenge of Mississippi Minister Coordinator Leah Daughdrill said, “Learning that you are not alone in addiction really gives you hope to strive and do better instead of staying where you are and in the condition that you are in.”
Daughdrill says overcoming addiction starts with accepting it and seeking help. “Coming to an event like No Judgment Day would be an awesome way to step out and say ‘here I am. This is where I am in my life and this is where I want to go.’”
Pastor Pascheco says he would love to start making No Judgment day a monthly event held at different churches around the Gulf Coast.
