Governor on Joining Trump Team and Protests
Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant says he will be working as closely as possible with President-Elect Donald Trump, but will not join his administration in Washington.
While Governor Bryant was still in Biloxi announcing the $114 million in Restore Act projects, he talked to News 25 about the speculation regarding becoming Secretary of Agriculture with the Trump Administration.
Bryant says although he won’t be taking a position at the White House, he’s been in close contact with Republican leaders like Vice President-Elect Mike Pence and plans on being there for advice whenever needed.
Bryant also says he’s very disappointed in the recent anti-Trump protests. “We’ve had a republic for more than 200 years and we’ve had a safe transfer of power. Now, we only have one president at a time and President Obama will serve until January, but for people to protest an election of a president of the United States and vice president is very disappointing and I hope it will end soon.”
Governor Bryant says he is hoping for a good transition into Trump’s presidency and he’s excited to work closer to this next administration.
