Jackson County sheriff’s deputy indicted on felony drug charges

A Jackson County sheriff’s deputy is on administrative leave with pay after he was indicted on prescription drug charges.
A Marion County grand jury indicted 47-year-old Jeffrey Broom on four counts of obtaining prescription medication by misrepresentation and tampering with evidence which are both felonies. He is also accused of two misdemeanor counts of possession.
The crimes allegedly happened while Broom was employed with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department in 2016.
