Pascagoula Hoops Phenom Signs NLI with LSU

One of the first things you learn in school is to put your name and date on everything. Well, today Pascagoula’s Jailin Cherry applied that same rule to one of the most important documents she’s ever going to sign.
This afternoon, the senior standout made it official with LSU, signing her national letter of intent less than two months after committing to play for the Tigers.
Cherry, a three star recruit according to ESPN, says she’s been ballin’ out since she was young. For her, getting the chance to play basketball at the Division I level is a prime example of hard work paying off. “It’s a good moment. I mean, growing up I’ve been doing this for a long time, probably 14 years now starting when I was three. It’s just a beautiful experience and I’m just happy.”
Pascagoula Head Girls Basketball Coach Crisla Herchenhahn said, “Obviously I’m excited that she’s going Division I to play at that level, but certainly in the SEC with the power rankings of women’s basketball there and I’m excited. I’m a Tennessee fan, but I’ll always cheer for Jailin.”
Coach H says Cherry is her first player to sign a scholarship with an SEC school in all her years as a head coach.
The 0-2 Lady Panthers will look to grab their first win of the season tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. against Provine at the Biloxi Classic.
