FBI Investigates Greenville Church Arson as Hate Crime
The FBI has opened a civil rights investigation into the arson and vandalism of an African-American church in Greenville where “Vote Trump” was spray painted on the wall.
Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons called the fire and graffiti a “heinous, hateful, and cowardly act.”
Fire official’s estimate 80 percent of the building is destroyed.
Police have extensively interviewed a man in connection for two days, but are not calling him a suspect.
Authorities are offering an $11,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
