East Central’s Brad Cumbest ready to ink with Mississippi State
Starting tomorrow, the future of college football recruiting will change forever with the debut of the early signing period. There’s a division I player from the Gulf Coast that’s ready to try it out.
East Central tight end Brad Cumbest is expected to sign with Mississippi State early tomorrow morning, according to Head Coach Seth Smith. Cumbest has been committed to the Bulldogs since June and he stayed that way even after Dan Mullen made his departure for Florida.
The Sun Herald reports that Cumbest was given clearance by the MSU staff to make it official this morning and he appears to be the only local D1 product going that route.
Of course any player can still put pen to paper on National Signing Day which opens up the regular period on February 7th. Right now, four other Gulf Coast standouts have division I offers: Gulfport’s Karlos Dillard, Malcom Magee of Ocean Springs, Poplarville’s DJ Travis, and Brandon Tartavoulle from St. Stanislaus.
The early signing period opens at 7 a.m. tomorrow and closes at 11:59 p.m. on Friday.
