Art McClung Named Moss Point Police Chief

Art McClung is now officially Moss Point’s top law enforcement officer. Tuesday night, the city’s Board of Aldermen voted unanimously to name McClung Moss Point Police Chief.

McClung has served as the city’s Interim Sheriff the past six months after former Chief, Keith Davis, resigned to take a job with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources. Chief McClung tells News 25 one of his top priorities is getting into the police department’s 21st century, state of the art new building and to see the Moss Point Police Department not only be the best police department in the state, but the nation.

McClung says, "My plans are to take Moss Point to the next level. I truly, and I mean no offense to no other police chief, but I want to make Moss Point Police Department the best department in Mississippi, not just on the Coast, but in Mississippi, and I want the citizens of Moss Point to get the best service and protection that they can get from us. That’s my ultimate goal. That’s why we’re here.”

Chief McClung says he’s looking forward to serving and protecting Moss Point as the new Chief of Police.
