Renovations Planned for IG Levy Park

Residents in Pascagoula can expect to see renovations to I.G. Levy Park.

The City of Pascagoula has been awarded $25,000 from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation through the Five Star and Urban Waters Restoration Program. The grant will help fund $50,000 worth of improvements around Whitehead Lake. The project will restore an acre of Urban Forest, install two rain gardens, and remove one acre of invasive plant species.

Darcie Crew, Parks and Recreation Director, says, “We’re restoring an area that over time, we have lost a lot of trees and that sort of thing that attract birds and other wildlife to our area, so what a great opportunity to restore some of that in such a pretty area.”

The next step for the city will be to hire a consultant on the project, who will develop a work plan, timeline, and coordinate the project activities.
