Ocean Springs rings in the holidays
Tonight Ocean Springs brought in the holiday spirit with their annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony despite making some last minute venue changes due to the weather.
Families showed up in numbers to celebrate two hours of holiday cheer in downtown Ocean Springs. The First Baptist Church Choir started off the event with Christmas carols and Alderman Michael Impey followed and read “‘Twas the Night before Christmas.”
Mayor Shea Dobson had the honor of welcoming Santa into the community center where children greeted him with open arms. Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cynthia Sutton said, “Well we did have some changes in venue. We are at the community center tonight, but it has not hurt the attendance at all. The community center is filled with families and kids. It’s a wonderful turn out here at the Ocean Springs Community Center.”
Children who made it out tonight were able to enjoy cookie decorating as well as an arts and craft station.
