Lights Being Put up for Winter Festival in Gulfport

Jack Frost isn’t nipping at your nose quite yet, but that doesn’t mean it’s not beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Crews have been out at Jones Park setting up for this year’s Gulfport Harbor Winter Festival. While the lights won’t be bright until the day after Thanksgiving, city leaders tell News 25 that setup for a show of this magnitude must start weeks in advance.
Last year, Jones Park saw over 40,000 people come through the park to check out the display. This year, they plan to make it even bigger and better. City of Gulfport Public Information Officer Chris Vignes said, “We were overwhelmed. We had a lot of repeat guests. A lot of people were coming. This year, Santa will be here every night up until Christmas. We’re open November 25th through January 1st nightly, over 15 nights of live entertainment. We still have the 65 foot Santa Ferris wheel coming in which was a huge hit with the lights. Actually this year, we’re offering more lights than before.”
Admission is $5. Children two and under get in free.
If you’re not able to walk the park, there will be a CTA trolley at no charge to give you a tour.
