Mississippi Coast Restaurant meeting

For more than 35 years, the Mississippi Coast Restaurant and Beverage Association has been the voice of the local restaurant industry.
Tonight, the group hosted its annual membership meeting where local restaurant owners and food distributors can learn about the benefits and training involved in the industry.
Aside from the Mississippi Hospitality and Restaurant Association which controls the entire state’s restaurants, the association on the Coast aims to provide unique, one-of-a-kind foods that South Mississippi is known for. Executive Director Susan Perkins said, “We just want to address what’s important to the restaurant owners here on the Coast and we are also trying to start a scholarship program for local culinary students that we started at a Chefs of the Coast event in September was that we had a cooking contest with a couple high schools and they all received a stipend for their culinary programs so we wanna do more like that and invest in the future of the restaurant industry because when you look at the culinary programs that’s the future of our industry.”
