Model RC Planes Take Flight in Harrison County
Dozens of pilots from around the nation are taking flight on the Coast this weekend.
Model plane pilots were out hitting the skies this morning at the Harrison County Fairgrounds Model Plane Park in Gulfport.
The pilots are all joining up with the Mississippi Coast Radio Controlled Club this weekend for the “3-D Throwdown.”
All the RC pilots are aviation enthusiasts who either have a love for flying or have been in the pilot seat of an actual plane.
The pilots taking over the skies aren’t your everyday RC Pilots. They specialize in performing aerial tricks that are amazing to watch.
While these pilots differ in years of experience, why they fly is common across the board. RC Pilot William Jackson said, “A little over a year and half. Probably just hanging out with the people. The community and stuff.” RC Pilot Henry Outlaw said, “Probably 15 years and gathering with all your friends that have moved out to different states and back together and just having a good time.”
Gates open at eight tomorrow for the main event. If you do come, make sure to park behind the gate and watch for low flying planes.
