Bond denied for Jackson County man who shot his estranged wife

Vinet Moore, the 41-year-old man who shot his estranged wife last week, will remain behind bars.

Moore went to his initial court hearing today and was denied bond by Jackson County Court Judge Mark Watts on an attempted murder charge.

According to police, Moore severely injured his estranged wife, 43-year-old Michelle Coleman, after a domestic dispute which led to him shooting Coleman and barricading himself inside her home on Brookestone Drive in St. Martin.

After a seven-hour standoff, Moore surrendered and was taken into custody.

In court this afternoon, Moore apologized to the family that was present, but Coleman’s oldest daughter, 22-year-old Aariahn May, who did not want to be on camera, tells News 25 sorry doesn’t make up for what he did. “You will get a feeling when you know something is about to happen. I’m sure a lot of us got the feeling because I know I did, but I never thought it’d get this serious to hurt somebody over them not wanting to be with you anymore.”

Michelle Coleman is still hospitalized and has undergone multiple surgeries. She is in stable condition.
