Father of Cheyenn Hyer speaks out

Ryan Hyer says his daughter Cheyenn was just like any three year old girl…fun…energetic… always smiling. He called her Chey for short but says she was anything but.
“Happy and excited and ready to do anything. She was the funniest little thing. She would run up to anybody and give her attention.”, Ryan Hyer, Cheyenn’s father said.

Hyer has been searching for answers ever since finding out his three year old baby girl died after being left in a patrol car alone for 4 hours.
Hyer tells news 25, ” You know, you see it on the news…child killed in a car accident and even children left in hot cars, but the last thing you would expect is to have to officers come knocking on your door to let you know that your daughter has passed away from one of those exact same things you see on TV and nothing you can do or say can prepare you for it.”
Investigators with the Hancock County Sheriff’s department say the child’s mother, Cassie Barker, who is an officer with the long beach police department, was visiting with fellow officer, Clark Ladner, at his home in the kiln while the child was outside in the car. Ryan Hyer remains stunned.
He says, “My daughter is dead. She was… they know for a fact that she left her in the car and yet they put her on paid administrative leave.”

Back in 2001 Hyer lost another child due to complications during child birth. Hyer says he just wants to get Cheyenn back home to Jacksonville, Florida where she was born, so she can be buried next to her sister… but that…he says …has been a struggle.
“The funeral home will not release my daughter to me because i guess the laws in Mississippi are different so she (the mother) still has legal rights and they have to have her permission for me to take her,” Hyer said.
Hyer says he just wants to get his daughter home… so he and his family can find some peace.
“I’m going to miss her. No child deserves to be taken that way or be taken period. I just hope one day I can see her again,” he said.
