New company coming to the Port of Gulfport

The Mississippi State Port Authority at Gulfport has a new tenant and more jobs coming to the east pier.

Ocean Aero will occupy 67,000 feet of warehouse space on the Port of Gulfport’s east pier and is expected to create 45 new jobs by the end of 2021. The new space will be fully operational by early 2022.

Ocean Aero specializes in the construction, testing, and demonstration of underwater and surface vehicles.

The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance for equipment relocation and workforce training. Port of Gulfport CEO/ Executive Director Jon Nass said, “We’re so excited that we’re receiving this national recognition that this is a place to go if you’re a tech company. If you want to be associated with Ocean Research with Ocean engineering, the Gulf Coast of Mississippi is the place to come. So, they’ll be locating here, the lease is for up to 20 years. So, we believe this is a long-term commitment.”

Ocean Aero is transferring their manufacturing operations and headquarters from San Diego, California to Gulfport.
