Mississippi Gives Day Raises over $25,000 for Mississippi Nonprofits

Mississippi Gives is excited to announce that its first annual statewide philanthropic day of giving initiative, Mississippi Gives Day, held on Wednesday, December 10th, resulted in a total amount of $25,064 donated to nonprofit organizations across the state.

Mississippi Gives developed the Mississippi Gives Day initiative in partnership with the Knight Foundation to promote and increase community awareness and giving to Mississippi nonprofits.

Mississippi Gives Day is an online giving event with the goal of raising as much money for local nonprofits as possible in a 24-hour period. Hundreds of Mississippians across the state visited the website MississippiGives.org, selected their charity of choice, and made direct donations to their favorite causes.

"Mississippi Gives Day was organized by Mississippi Gives but it was fueled by the generosity of the people of Mississippi. We are grateful and humbled", said Ilian Yotov, Founder and Executive Director of Mississippi Gives. "It was wonderful to witness the community engagement and the positive impact of Mississippi Gives Day. We are excited about the future of the initiative and look forward to continuing our work to transform philanthropy in our state and to grow overall giving to the nonprofits that make Mississippi great!"

The website MississippiGives.org will serve as a year-round resource that makes it easier for people in our communities to find and connect with their local nonprofit organizations, to be able to make direct donations, and to fundraise online for the causes they care about.

MississippiGives.org has over 140 Mississippi nonprofits currently registered and new organizations are signing up daily. Any nonprofit 501(c)3 organization in active status in the state of Mississippi can register to participate and can create a profile page on MississippiGives.org free of charge. Donations to the causes enlisted on the website can be made any day, any time.
