Pascagoula Speaks Out

Police Chief Art McClung no longer has a job with the Moss Point Police Department. This came after he admitted to drinking alcohol before Pascagoula police stopped him for allegedly driving recklessly.
What’s next for the Pascagoula Police Department who did not file a report on this traffic stop?
A video that surfaced last week showed Pascagoula police pulling over McClung who was allegedly driving over 100 miles per hour after admitting to having had a few drinks. After finding out the video was from July and Pascagoula police didn’t charge McClung or file a report, some residents in Pascagoula are saying Police Chief Kenny Johnson, who told the police to drive McClung home, shouldn’t get off scott-free.
Pascagoula Mayor Jim Blevins says it’s an issue for Moss Point and he doesn’t have an opinion on the incident.
Residents tell News 25 they think the Pascagoula Police Department tried to slip the incident under the rug.
Pascagoula resident Jack Nobles said, “I think they should fire him and I think they should get rid of Johnson for letting his men take him home and let him go.”
Pascagoula resident Chad Freeman said, “I think the law is the law. I think it should apply to everybody.”
Pascagoula Mayor Jim Blevins said, “Absolutely do not feel that our department is covering up anything. We’ve given every video, every piece of information. We’ve handled every interview that’s been asked of us and we are very open.”
Pascagoula City Manager Joe Huffman told News 25 that he can’t discuss certain personnel issues for legal reasons, but does confirm that as of now there have been no personnel position changes due to the incident.
