Residents Hold Peaceful Protest

Residents are saying no to MP Express Gas Station after recent allegations of employees using violence to customers. Community members protested across the street urging driver to not spend their money at MP Express. According to police last Monday the owner of MP Express got into a heated argument with a man on a bike who allegedly stole items out of the convenience store. The argument escalated to a physical altercation, which then led to the owner pulling out a gun and shooting the other male. Protestors tell News 25 the police should have been involved sooner and the violence is getting out of hand. Shot a guy, did not get charged so we’re doing a protest to try to shut these people down this cannot go on and once we start standing together it works, unity, when people come together it works. Protesters plan to stand across from the MP Express on Main Street until 5 pm tonight.
