Healthy Start Symposium Saturday in Pascagoula
A healthy start to a school day can greatly affect a student’s performance.
Tomorrow, the Mississippi State University Jackson County extension office, Asbury Chapel and Solomon Temple AME Church are just a few organizations teaming up for the Health Start Symposium.
The highlight will be a healthy cooking demonstration put on by a New Orleans chef as well as a container bowl gardening demonstration.
Parents attending will also get a lesson on how to handle their children and social media. Gulf Coast Parent Coach Myya Robinson said, “We also have a program called ‘How to Stalk Your Kid.’ It’s all about social media. What’s going on with Twitter and Facebook and Snapchat and how do I kind of monitor that with my child. I want them to have a little bit of freedom if they’re old enough to do it, but I want to be able to monitor it and keep them safe.”
The symposium will take place from 9 until 1 at the Asbury Chapel AME Church. Admission is free.
