North Gulfport Residents Fed up with Continual Flooding
Just before noon today, water came close to touching the bottom of mailboxes at the end of driveways of some homes situated on the circle at Tandy Drive, part of Olivet Subdivision in Orange Grove. Residents in the area tell News 25 this happens every time there’s heavy rainfall, and blame the high waters, reportedly higher and worse than what the neighborhood saw during Katrina, on a construction project that’s been underway for the past decade in the northern parts of 3 Rivers Road. Residents are fed up with the post-Katrina flooding and hoping the city will soon do something to help prevent this ongoing problem. Among the challenges they’ve faced due to the flooding: limited or no access to their homes at times, yard and property damage, water getting into their homes, and some vehicles have been flooded. We have a crew working on this story and will keep you posted.
