Mississippi State safety played for Georgia in 2015
Mississippi State Defensive Coordinator Todd Grantham is pretty familiar with Georgia. He spent four years there before going to Louisville, but as it turns out he’s not the only Bulldog that spent some time between the hedges.
One of the new faces on Grantham’s defense, Jonathan Abram played for Georgia as a freshman in 2015. He played in ten games and then left to go to Jones County Junior College where he was the top ranked JUCO safety in the entire country. Now he’s making an impact on the MSU defense with 11 tackles between the safety and linebacker positions.
Grantham has been most impressed with Abram’s dedication. “He’s really probably obsessed with being a great player. He really works at his craft and is a smart guy. I think anytime you get guys like that, it can also feed into other guys, particularly in that room and I think that his influence has shown up with those guys.”
Abram was a big part of JCJC’s upset victory over East Mississippi in 2016 during his lone year in Ellisville. He was also a standout at East Marion High School in Columbia, Mississippi.
