Veterans legal assistance program
Each year, thousands of veterans return home from overseas. Often times these veterans return home to their loved ones and sometimes legal issues.
Beginning at 1 o’clock tomorrow, attorneys will be at the Harrison County Court House Law Library offering veterans free one-on-one legal advice sessions.
Attorneys are offering assistance in areas of criminal law, family law, including divorce and custody, wills and estates, and even social security disability benefits. The program is aimed to give veterans access to justice in Mississippi. Veterans Legal Assistance Program Chair Jenny Tyler Baker said, “Mississippi has an access to justice problem. Our veterans have an access to justice problem. So putting on clinics with the state is a way to help our veterans who have given so much to us as a community, as a nation help them with these legal issues they have and not know where to turn.”
The event begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday and ends at 4.
