Hurricane Ida impacts in LaPlace, Louisiana

Winds from Ida pummeled LaPlace overnight seriously damaging numerous buildings along with the power grid.

Residents who remained in their homes have been told to stay and in that it could be up to 72 hours before they can emerge.

Multiple roads are closed across the area. There are reports of people trapped in upper floors of their homes, some even taking refuge in attics.
